As far as Full House star John Stamos is concerned, Lori Loughlin is still his Aunt Becky.
Scandal, shmandle — the two are still very close friends despite Lori’s college admissions scandal several years ago.
If anything, the scandal seems to have made John like her even more than before.
He recounted in his memoir If You Would Have Told Me that he really admires Lori for how she handled her legal troubles.
According to Hollywood Life, he wrote, “I’ve witnessed moments where giving up could have been the easiest way out for Lori.”
“She could have shifted the blame and let her family, marriage, and life crumble. But she didn’t. I’m not sure I could have taken the hit she did with the resilience she showed. No matter how hard she was hit, how desperate everyone was to cancel her and throw her in with the pile of brutal criminals, she stood fast, protecting her daughters from the mud hurled at them day after day after day.”
John Stamos opens up on Lori Loughlin’s resilience
Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud in 2020 and admitted to paying $500,000 to falsely claim that their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Giannulli, were members of the University of Southern California crew team.
As a result, Lori was sentenced to two months in prison and was released in December 2020.
At the time, she and John were still close, and he “watched Lori embrace her responsibility, fulfill the legal requirements with her husband, and dust herself off with unwavering determination.”
He continued, “What struck me most was her sheer grit and her ability to gather the pieces of her shattered world and rebuild. Her unyielding devotion to her family is a testament to her character. To watch her rise, time and again, was like witnessing a master class in resilience.”
But that’s not all — he also added a little tidbit about their history.
John Stamos reveals date with Lori Loughlin
Before there was an Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky, there was the story of John and Lori — or almost the story of John and Lori.
In his memoir, John revealed that the two had a “single, long-lost date” at Disneyland, where they made out at the haunted mansion.
Although it never went anywhere, they would reconnect on set as Jesse and Becky on Full House.
John calls Lori a “cherished friend” in his memoir. “We’ve weathered storms together and stood by each other’s sides despite life’s hurdles. We’ve seen each other at our worst.”
