Kim Kardashian is not the first celebrity to have been through a terrifying ordeal at the hands of robbers eager to get their hands on stars’ valuables.
The KUWTK star was robbed at gunpoint by at least two men dressed as police officers at a luxury residence in Paris of a string of valuable items including a box with $6.7million worth of jewellery inside.
The mum-of-two was tied up in the bathroom while they ransacked the property, while Kim’s husband Kanye West was on stage in New York at the time. Luckily, Kim was not injured but has been left shaken.
Here’s some other celebrities who have been targeted by robbers. Many were the targets of a group known as The Bling Ring, the story of whom was made into a movie by Soffia Coppola in 2013.
Orlando Bloom
The actor’s house was broken into in July 2009, with The Bling Ring group stealing items worth around $500,000 including jewellery, watches and cash after climbing through a window. A dress belonging to his then live-in girlfriend Miranda Kerr was also stolen. Both stars were luckily out at the time of the break-in.
Kate Moss
Kate Moss’s home in London was broken into in May 2010, and chillingly took place while she sept in one of the rooms. The robbers stole three pieces of art including a portrait by street artist Banksy worth around $140,000.
Nicole Farhi
The fashion designer was mugged outside her home in London, in a terrifying incident where she was strangled until she fainted. The thief took her Rolex watch, cash and a ring.
Megan Fox
Another Bling Ring target, Megan Fox and now husband Brian Austin Green’s home was broken into in October 2009, while she was away filming in New York. Not much got stolen though — just some jewelry, some of Green’s clothes, and a Sig Sauer .380 semi-automatic handgun.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton was robbed FIVE times by The Bling Ring in three months from October 2008 to December 2008. Talk about an easy target — robbers got into her mansion in Hollywood Hills using a key left under the mat, and are said to have taken valuables worth more than $2million.
Diddy
Probably one of the strangest cases on this list, Diddy’s home has been broken into several times over the years. But the culpit, Quamine Taylor, never stole ANYTHING. Taylor pretended to be part of Diddy’s inner circle to get into his house, then would just walk around in Diddy’s clothes, sleep in his bed, and work his way through the rapper’s drinks collection.
