Mary Elizabeth Winstead hit headlines this week after being branded “a piece of trash” by the daughter of her boyfriend Ewan McGregor.
Clara McGregor, 22, posted the comment on an image of her dad’s 33-year-old girlfriend on Instagram. She wrote: “Most beautiful and talented woman on earth? (laughing faces) Oh man y’all are delusional. The girl is a piece of trash :) x.”
But who is Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the subject of her wrath?
Winstead is best known as an actress, and starred opposite McGregor, 47, in the third season of FX series, Fargo, where the pair met during filming.
Photos of the pair kissing surfaced last fall, but speculation is that the two had been together prior to that. Season 3 of Fargo was released in April 2017 and filmed several months prior.
Their relationship created plenty of stir because the actor was married with children. After 22 years of marriage to Eve Mavrakis, McGregor filed for divorce in March, taking a chance at dating Winstead instead. The pair are still together at the time of writing.
Winstead, originally from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, has had a long-running acting career, starting out on the stage and small screen back in 1997. Two years later she began playing Jessica Bennett in Passions, a role which she played for 89 episodes.
Other TV roles have included as Rowan Blackshaw in The Returned, Laurel Healy in BrainDead, Mary Phinney in Mercy Street, and Nikki Swango in Fargo. On the big screen she has appeared in a string of big roles including as John McLane’s daughter Lucy Gennero-McClane in Live Free or Die Hard, a role which she reprised in A Good Day to Die Hard.
Other notable roles include as Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and as Michelle in 10 Cloverfield Lane.
