Michael Strahan is celebrating another career milestone in one of his many gigs apart from Good Morning America.
The GMA host has been missing from multiple episodes of the daily program in the past month or so, all for good reason.
As Monsters and Critics reported, he’s also teased fans about an upcoming project, which may be from his SMAC Entertainment company.
That company is why Strahan recently shared about a “deserving honor” for the team after he’d missed GMA on Monday.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer revealed the cover of Sports Business Journal’s issue this week.
Strahan appeared on the cover in a teal suit with a gray button-down shirt and stylish white and gray Nikes.
Strahan shares ‘deserving honor’ for SMAC
Standing beside Strahan for his cover are SMAC co-founder and CEO Constance Schwartz-Morini and FredAnthony Smith, vice president of non-scripted.
The October 2023 SBJ issue spotlights an “inaugural list of companies at the intersection of sports and entertainment.”
“SMAC has been named an honoree for SBJ’s 4SE (Force) in Sports Storytelling,” Strahan also revealed in his IG post’s caption.
“This is a deserving honor for our team who works so hard behind the scenes to get us to where we are today. Very proud of our #SMACFAM,” Strahan wrote.
He included other hashtags such as #WeHaveBeenHere and #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork.
In addition to the magazine photos above, SMAC Entertainment’s Instagram shared a behind-the-scenes video clip of the cover shoot.
“No matter what it is, when we do something together… we’re always having fun!” the IG video post’s caption said.
What is SMAC Entertainment?
The SMAC Entertainment company is something Strahan is quite proud of, having previously revealed their No BS football documentary for HBO’s Max platform.
SMAC, which stands for Sports Music and Culture, has several other projects in development or production.
One of those is The Underdogs, featuring hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg. The other is an eight-part documentary series with FuboTV and former NFL player Michael Vick about the “evolution of the Black quarterback in America.”
Patrick Mahomes, Cam Newton, Tony Dungy, Andy Reid, Doug Williams, and others will appear in the upcoming docuseries.
SMAC is also a talent management agency, working with Sanders, the Garcia twins, Erin Andrews, Wiz Khalifa, and Camille Kostek, among other talents.
Promotions shown on SMAC’s website include an upcoming motivational book by former NFL player Deion Sanders and an Amazon dating show featuring Brie and Nikki Garcia, formerly known as WWE’s Bella Twins.
“SMAC also produces content and experiences and incubates businesses that inspire positive change in the world,” per the company’s website.
Strahan missed Monday’s GMA episode
As mentioned, Strahan has frequently missed episodes of Good Morning America, where he’s seen as a co-host with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
That included the Monday, October 23 episode, as Strahan was absent from the program.
However, he usually misses Mondays during NFL season as he’s a commentator and analyst for FOX, appearing on Fox NFL Sunday alongside other former players, including Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw, and Rob Gronkowski.
Strahan shared a photo from the set as he smiled beside Bradshaw for a selfie, with Gronkowski making a photobomb appearance.
“My guy! Everybody’s #1 and the original TB12! Mr. Terry Bradshaw,” Strahan wrote in his IG caption.
Strahan’s caption poked fun at someone he’d previously played against, NFL legend Tom Brady. Strahan’s Super Bowl 2008 win with the New York Giants featured the team defeating Brady and the New England Patriots, 17-14.
In recent weeks, viewers have seen Strahan miss other episodes of GMA due to having to be on the West Coast for a brief Dancing With the Stars appearance as a DWTS guest judge.
In addition to those gigs, he has recently appeared live on QVC to promote his clothing line with the NFL and continues appearing as host of ABC’s rebooted Pyramid game show.
