As reported by Daily Mail, the 62-year-old record producer and media personality was not wearing a helmet at the time of his crash. Reportedly going 20mph, Simon was thrust over the handlebars of his bike.
Simon was rushed to the hospital and fitted with a cast after a passerby noticed the “blood-soaked” celebrity. His injuries were mild enough to be released the same day, and he is now recovering comfortably.
“I’m OK. I’m feeling much better thank you,” Simon told MailOnline. “It happened just round the corner.”
Reportedly, Simon has vowed to start wearing a helmet. Apparently, locals noticed Simon cruising the streets at a high rate of speed recently, spurring him to admit, “I’m a bit of a nutter. I’ll definitely wear a helmet next time.”
According to an eyewitness, Simon hit a wet patch on the road when his e-bike slipped, thrusting him over the handlebars.
The source says that before paramedics arrived, “three kindly passers-by jumped into action, and stopped the traffic so he wouldn’t be run over.”

Another source told the Daily Mail that Simon has a history of speeding on his bike, and they weren’t surprised that he crashed.
“He dashes round the corner without stopping and he’s never wearing a helmet,” the source told the outlet. “The roads can get very busy round here, so he’s taking a bit of a chance.”
The news of Simon’s crash comes on the heels of a similar accident in August 2020 when he crashed his bicycle in the courtyard of his Malibu home, injuring his back and requiring back surgery.
Simon’s crash came one day after he wrapped up filming episodes for Season 15 of Britain’s Got Talent.
The British version of America’s Got Talent is slated to return to the air after a year-long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this month, Simon, 62, confirmed that he got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, 44, during a vacation to Barbados. Simon and Lauren share an 8-year-old son, Eric.
