Katherine Schwarzenegger is engaged to Chris Pratt. The Hollywood actor announced the news on Instagram last night, revealing how happy he was that she had said yes when he proposed.
The two had been secretly dating over the past few months, and Chris only recently went public with their romance on social media.
The engagement may come as a huge surprise to people, but Katherine comes from a famous family (can you guess who her dad is yet?).
Katherine is the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. She’s 29 years old and the oldest of five. She has a younger sister, Christina, 27; brothers Patrick, 25, and Christopher, 21; and a half-brother, Joseph Baena, 21.
Her half-brother was a result of an affair Arnold had while he was married to Maria Shriver. She filed for divorce in July 2011 after the news broke about his affair, although Arnold has since been keen to keep the family together despite their estrangement.
Katherine also has a connection to the Kennedy family. On Instagram, she shared a photo of her maternal grandmother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who is John F. Kennedy’s little sister.
Katherine attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 2012 with a degree in communications. She also wrote a book in 2010 called Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back.
In the book, she talks about her struggles with her own body image and self-confidence issues. These days, Katherine appears to run her own blog, on which she talks about fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Since Chris and Katherine have kept their romance private, it’s uncertain when they met. However, pictures of them started emerging of the pair together last summer. This would mean that they’ve dated less than a year before getting engaged.
This marks the second marriage for Pratt. He was previously married to Anna Faris, but the two decided to divorce, with the paperwork being finalized last year. They have a son, Jack, who is 6 years old.
