Juelz Santana and Kimbella Vanderhee both shared sneak peeks from a recent engagement shoot but even that didn’t overshadow news of the Dipset rapper’s sentencing on Wednesday.
On Season 9 of Love & Hip Hop, Juelz and Kimbella have been featured as they get ready for court and Juelz tries to decide if he’ll take a plea deal or take his chances. As the newly engaged couple prepares for his incarceration, Juelz admitted that he still didn’t know if he would take the plea deal or take his chances.
It turns out that Juelz, who was facing up to 10 years in prison if he took his case to trial, opted to plead guilty and take a lesser sentence.
Even though Juelz Santana pleaded guilty back in August, Kimbella’s man was sentenced to more than two years behind bars. According to TMZ, the official sentence is 27 months in prison plus another 12 months of supervised release when he gets out.
That’s right on track with the sentence Juelz believed he would get. On the latest episode of Love & Hip Hop, he guessed that the ruling would put him behind bars for 27 to 37 months.
Why is Juelz headed to prison?
Juelz Santana was arrested back in March in an airport incident that made major headlines. As he was attempting to board a flight at the Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, TSA agents found a loaded handgun and eight oxycodone pills that he did not have a prescription for in one of his bags.
Rather than taking responsibility for the gun and drugs, Juelz took off, evading TSA security and police. The Love & Hip Hop star admitted that he left the airport by cab after agents confronted him, leaving all of his belongings behind.
Juelz turned himself in three days later and was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a dangerous controlled substance.
The future for Juelz Santana and Kimbella
Just last month, Juelz finally proposed to Kimbella after a decade and two kids together. It was in the middle of a live show when Juelz called Kimbella up on stage and dropped to one knee.
Naturally, the LHHNY star said yes but fans have been skeptical about the proposal, with many wondering on social media if this upcoming marriage has anything to do with his looming incarceration.
With Juelz and Kimbella getting ready for a wedding, you can’t miss Kimbella’s excitement. This is what she has wanted for years and Juelz reportedly would not commit.
It’s not clear when Juelz and Kimbella will actually tie the knot, as they haven’t announced a wedding date yet. However, we can only assume that it will be soon as Love & Hip Hop fans expect the pair to get hitched before he heads off to jail.
That’s another date that hasn’t been made known yet. While we have learned how long Juelz Santana will be going to prison, it’s not clear yet when he will be required to turn himself in.
