Introducing a version of Mickey’s Clubhouse, Minnie’s Pet Salon, a full length adventure that takes toddlers in the clubhouse and Minnie’s pet salon. The DVD also includes additional episodes: Daisy’s Pet Project, Pluto’s Puppy-Sitting Adventures, Donald’s Ducks, and Pluto Lends a Paw.
All of these will keep your toddler/preschool interested and involved in learning as they teach such things as counting, teamwork, colors, problem solving, shapes, social skills, and responsibilities such as pet care.
As with Mickey’s Playhouse, the colors are vibrant and the story moves along with a pep and energy. Familiar characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto) solve problems and interact with one another (social skills). In the opening full-length episode, all the Clubhouse pals bring their animal friends to get ready for Pluto’s All-Star Pet Show.
Minnie needs help with the grooming and bathing and training and Mickey and friends are there to help. Minnie announces her pet shop to the other characters and gives each one of them a job. The cards Minnie gives each character has a picture of the job they will perform for the shop (as opposed to words—definitely for the pre-school age).
Donald gets a job he is unsure about and Minnie has to convince him he will do a good job (teaches confidence). The problem comes when three adorable little kittens go missing, and the show asks for “help” from the viewer to find them in time for the big show.
Following the format, music, and look of Mickey’s Clubhouse, the viewer is encouraged to “help” solve the problem as the episode plays out (problem solving skills). With over two hours of song-filled pet-themed fun, including the four bonus episodes, Minnie’s Pet Salon is a great buy for any parent/toddler/preschooler.
This is a great way to see your toddler or preschooler interact with the characters. My little girl even got up and did the suggested movements as she watched (teaches activity and exercise as opposed to just sitting and watching, and as a parent, I loved this suggested interaction).
Produced, written, and directed by Donovan Cook (Return to Never Land), Rob LaDuca (Jake and the Never Land Pirates), and Mark Seidenberg (Jake and the Never Land Pirates), Minnie’s Pet Shop is an eye-catching extravaganza for the little ones in your life and will keep them entertained.
I watched this with my 5 year old (almost to be 6) and it kept her interested to the point she rarely looked away from the TV to play with her dolls (and she was busy doing the suggested movements, so she wasn’t inactive).
It comes highly recommended from a parent who is looking for distractions for their preschooler on rainy summer days (or any other time of the year).
