Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic The BFG is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, organisers have revealed.
The prestigious French festival has revealed the Disney animated movie will be one of 49 movies shown at the event.
The 2016 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 11-22, almost two month’s before The BFG’s official release in the US on July 1.
The BFG — short for the Big Friendly Giant — tells the story of an orphaned girl called Sophie and her adventures in Giant Country.
It stars Mark Rylance as the voice of The BFG, who also appeared in Spielberg’s historical thriller Bridge of Spies, along with 10-year-old newcomer Ruby Barnhill as Sophie.
