Caelynn Miller-Keyes is one of the women competing for Colton Underwood’s heart on The Bachelor.
She stands a good chance, as the 23-year-old, from Charlotte, North Carolina, has competitive genes. She was named Miss North Carolina USA in 2018 and came in as first runner-up at Miss USA.
According to her ABC Bachelor bio, she grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she worked towards a degree in broadcast journalism, meaning Caelynn is likely both comfortable in front of the camera as well as behind it.
Her Bachelor bio also reveals that she looks up to her grandmother, who was the first woman to be the head of the FBI in Los Angeles. And while high ambitions appear to be in her blood, Colton shouldn’t get his hopes up in terms of cooking. She admits that she’s a horrible cook, except when it comes to breakfast.
Caelynn Miller-Keyes isn’t the only contestant who comes from the pageant world on this season of The Bachelor. But it sounds like Caelynn has a powerful story to tell. She’s used her newfound platform after being named Miss North Carolina USA to talk about sexual assault, after revealing that she was sexually assaulted by two of men — both of whom she knew — during her time at Virginia Commonwealth University.
She opened up about her ordeal during a press conference, explaining that she wants others to have more resources than she did when she was assaulted.
Her Miss North Carolina USA win and her decision to speak out about sexual assault have given her plenty of notoriety, so hopefully she’ll be well equipped to deal with The Bachelor world and all that comes with it.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
