Did Archie die on Riverdale? KJ Apa leaving is a possibility, but his character being dead is unlikely

Riverdale has been dealing with a serious of supernatural events. Between the Gargoyle King and the Fizzle Rocks causing hallucinations, there is no easy way to tell what is fact or fiction.

Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) has been staying at a cabin in the woods across the border in order to hide from Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos). After being attack by something in the woods, he is in dire need of attention. Is this the end of Archie in Riverdale?

Is Archie really dead?

The way things played out on Riverdale presented a little confusion. Archie was supposed to be safe in the cabin. Almost immediately, he was attacked by what has been dubbed a bear. No one saw what attacked him and given the state he was in following the incident, it is entirely possible it was something else.

Throughout the rest of the Riverdale episode, things got even more bizarre. Archie was having what viewers believe to be hallucinations about playing the game, people in his past, and seeing the warden from the prison.

By the end of Riverdale, it was clear that Archie Andrews was in dire shape. He was not responsive and when the show ended, and it looked like he was going to die. Of course, stranger things have happened and killing of Archie would be a huge twist, but did it actually happen?

What happens next on Riverdale?

While it would be a huge twist to kill off Archie Andrews, it is unlikely that is what happened. A number of things could have happened to him while he was in shock and non-responsive. If the writers did choose to kill him off, what would happen to the rest of the Riverdale gang?

KJ Apa has not announced any other jobs that would interfere with Riverdale, but that doesn’t mean he is sticking around. Given that there are still episodes left this season, it is likely that even if he did decide to walk away from the show, he will be sticking around at least through the end.

Losing Archie wouldn’t be the end all to Riverdale though. With the other cast members, there are several directions the writers could go. Whether Archie Andrews is really dead remains to be seen, but it is likely that he is still holding on to life, even if he was in a grizzly state.
