The Game of Thrones dragons are at the center of an internet debate with some interesting information at the heart of it. The question is whether they are actually dragons at all.
The debate itself started up on Reddit, where one user stated that dragons have four legs. He went on to explain that if the animal has only two legs, that it is known as a wyvern. The argument makes a lot of sense but has also stirred up the passion of a lot of fans.
As shown in the report by Esquire shared below, the term “Mother of Dragons” from the show sounds a lot better than “Mother of Wyverns.” The dragons on GoT also look pretty cool to viewers.
But “Mother of Wyverns” is just so much less catchy. https://t.co/7XsMjMgg0c pic.twitter.com/duz3Wf34dn

What are the Game of Thrones dragons?
Daenerys Targaryen, played by actress Emilia Clarke, has three dragons on the show. During Season 7 of Game of Thrones, though, one of those dragons was killed by the Night King. He brought it back and now there is an undead dragon wreaking havoc on the land.
The Game of Thrones dragons are named Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. They are all considered to be the children of Daenerys Targaryen, who helped bring them to life and has since raised them on the show. The dragons proved to be a huge asset as her armies worked their way toward Westeros.

While the debate about whether the Game of Thrones dragons are really dragons may be an interesting one, it’s not something that is likely to lead to changes on the show. Dragons have become an important part of the story and even these two-legged ones have brought new viewers to the program.
Game of Thrones returns for new episodes on HBO in April 2019.
