WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale. Don’t read below if you don’t want to know what happened.
Lannisters and Cleganes, Starks and Targaryens, and a Baelish no more, quoth the Raven.
The finale was all that and a side of delicious Dornish wine. We got switch-ups, fast ones and a reclaiming of Theon Greyjoy’s manhood which all were served up in The Dragon and The Wolf.
As we knew, Jon Snow is a Stark, but not Ned’s son. He and Dany are nephew and aunt which makes their torrid lovemaking all the more complicated as Bran/Three-Eyed Raven plans on educating Mr. Aegon Targaryen [Snow] who he really is.
The setting at King’s Landing allowed our Bronn to riff on the nature of c***s with Jaime ahead of the big Wight reveal to Cersei.
Tyrion, Varys, Davos Seaworth, Theon, Jon Snow, and the minions arrive and Dany makes her big dragon-riding entrance, much to the annoyance of Cersei who said, “You’re late.”
Ahead of next season, will the producers and writers flesh out the potential love match between the Hound and Brienne of Tarth?
We loved Clegane’s moment with his brother Gregor (the Mountain), saying: “You’re even f***ing uglier than I am now. What did they do to you?”
United in hate except their pragmatic desire to live, the wight pops out, Cersei seems frightened, and Euron makes his dramatic cowardly exit.
All a ruse of course, as Cersei will never give in to anything Dany and Tyrion propose. She goes along with it giving them a false hope. In a side deal unbeknownst to Snow, Dany et al, Euron has been sent to Esson to shore up her army.
But not Jaime. He wants to honor the deal and fight the army of the night. This seems the final schism between the brother-sister lovers.
Winterfell is the final resting place of the conniver Petyr Baelish-a.k.a Littlefinger. Sansa and Arya hatch a brilliant turnabout on him, accusing him of all his crimes. Groveling does not work.
After a heart-to-heart with Snow, Theon fights near to the death for his champion and sister Yara, winning back the respect of the Ironborn sailors.
The finale ends with snow falling in King’s Landing as Bran, reunited with Samwell Tarly, vision quests to learn how Snow came to be.
Flashbacks of a happy union between Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned’s sister Lyanna Stark are shown. Later he sees the apocalyptic ending to the Wall and the Night’s Watch.
The zombie Dragon Viserian bellows blue fire as the Night King mockingly rides him as Dany does her others.
Tormund watches the dead army amass and then runs for his life as the Wall is decimated by this blue fire and falls.
Game of Thrones’ last season will see exactly how these families end up, and if Fire bests Ice.
