God Friended Me ended Season 1 with a cliffhanger no one saw coming. The show was full of surprises since the beginning, and with Season 2 on the way, the anticipation for what will happen next is at an all-time high.
The CBS series took a new approach to beliefs and what fueled them. Miles Finer (Brandon Michael Hall) was an atheist who ran a podcast and debunked God’s presence while his father, Arthur Finer (Joe Morton) was a priest. His perspective changed when he got a friend request from God and began receiving friend suggestions from the account.
Season 1 of God Friended Me followed Miles and his friends Cara (Violett Beane) and Rakesh (Suraj Sharma) as they chased the leads sent by God and solved problems for the people who were in need. While caught up in the mystery of who God was, they discovered that Henry Chase (Derek Luke) and Simon Hayes (Adam Goldberg) were not associated with the account.
Season 2 of God Friended Me will return on September 29. It will continue to air in the Sunday night timeslot that it succeeded in last season. It will follow 60 Minutes and remains paired with NCIS: Los Angeles, followed by Madam Secretary.
When God Friended Me Season 1 ended, Miles had run into a girl who claims that she is also receiving friend requests from God. This opens up questions about whether there are more people out there getting suggestions and what the connection could be.
After the way things were handled in Season 1 with Miles and the fallout from some of the wrong assumptions, it looks like there will be some reconciliations happening in Season 2 of God Friended Me as well. Relationships will carry over, even if they don’t get the ending fans had hoped they would.
God Friended Me returns Sunday, September 29 at 8/7c on CBS.
