The Proposal ended with a surprising twist during tonight’s episode. During this 6th episode, the final guy Tyler proposes but he doesn’t propose marriage.
According to Reality Steve and the episode itself, Tyler proposes that they get to know each other better by going to his family’s vacation home. It sounds like Tyler is making history here, as he’s the first person to not follow the rules.
He’s the first person who made it to the end and didn’t propose marriage. In fact, he just ruined the entire premise of the show.
As viewers wrote on Twitter, they felt a bit betrayed. They wanted to watch the clumsy and awkward proposal, where two people get engaged that had never met before.
But Tyler may be wise to save the proposal for a special time. Even though others have taken the chance, he may want to do something special for Latoya, so it is a proposal that’s special for them and their relationship.
(“PROPOSAL” SPOILER): LaToya’s final two are Tyler and Garland. First guy & the last guy. She picks Tyler and he proposes…to get to know each other better. Wants to take her to his family’s vacation home. First non-proposal in 6 episodes.

So, are they still together? While The Proposal’s Twitter account has yet to give an update, the two didn’t get engaged. Tyler simply suggested that they go to Cape Cod to get to know one another and they did!
We are happy to share that Latoya and Tyler did end up taking that trip to Cape Cod! They are enjoying getting to know each other. ? #TheProposal pic.twitter.com/8cmtnESqU1

Two of Latoya’s friends, Tiffany Bass and Brie Doffing posted Instagram Live updates, cheering on their friend. If they are no longer together and if this turned out to be a huge embarrassment for her, surely her friends wouldn’t be posting about it as the show aired. To add to the story, Latoya herself shared her friends’ Instagram stories on her own live feed.
Tyler’s story on the show was honest and raw. He revealed that he had undergone a physical transformation and during the question period,
Latoya asked him if his sex life had improved. When her mother asked him questions, she wanted to know if his relationship with his parents and family were great. She seemed pleased to know that he had a great family unit behind him, something that she enjoyed in her own relationship with her daughter.
What do you think about Latoya Blakely’s episode? Are you surprised that Tyler didn’t propose marriage, but instead proposed that they would get to know each other better outside of the show?
The Proposal airs on Mondays at 10/9c on ABC.
