Welcome to Plathville is the newest TLC show featuring a large family. While you may want to compare this family to the Duggars, they are very different.
Last week, the Plaths made their debut on the network. The first episode revealed that many of the children have no idea what happens in the modern world that is inundated with technology, celebrity, and sugary foods.
Barry and Kim Plath are the parents. They have nine children ranging in age from 21 to 6. Ethan, Hosanna, Micha, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy round off the children. They have all lived together until recently when some changes happened in the family.
Ethan and Hosanna are both married. He lives with his wife, Olivia a few miles away from his parents. She was married earlier this year and currently lives in Ohio with her husband.
Kim and Barry Plath are learning to deal with the two older children being on their own and the influences that Ethan and Olivia have on the children who are still in the home.
Currently, the Plaths live in southern Georgia in a town called Cairo. They own a 55-acre farm and spend almost all of their time on the land. The children are homeschooled and help with the chores that need to be done to keep their lives moving forward.
Welcome to Plathville is filmed on the farm, at Ethan and Olivia’s home, and went on location to San Francisco when Olivia and Moriah went on a business trip to photograph a wedding.
The Plath family has done a good job of keeping the children away from the temptations of the modern world as they live out a peaceful life in southern Georgia. They have no idea who Tom Brady is and many of the children have never experienced what a Coke tastes like. Ethan and Moriah have both tasted the soft drink thanks to Olivia, but the others are none the wiser.
Barry Plath has said that their 55-acre farm is their small piece of Heaven on Earth. Many of the children agree and have enjoyed their time on the farm as they grow. Moriah is itching to be more worldly, and with the help of her sister-in-law Olivia, that may be possible.
Welcome to Plathville airs Tuesday nights at 10/9c on TLC.
