Who is Triumph the Insult Comic Dog?

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is a blast from the past.

The puppet originally appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 1997. The gimmick is simple. He is a puppet who insults anyone and everyone, usually with the worst insults you can imagine.

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was a recurring skit and appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien as well. He then appeared on TV Funhouse, Conan on TBS, and The Jack and Triumph Show on Adult Swim.

Comedian Robert Smigel voices Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, using an Eastern European accent.

Smigel is an actor who got his start with Saturday Night Live as a writer and producer and then moved on to work with Adam Sandler, appearing in movies like Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky. He also co-wrote Hotel Transylvania.

As recently as 2016, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was around to mock the Presidential election on Triumph’s Election Special 2016.

There was also a 2003 album with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog called Come Poop With Me. The comedy album received a Grammy nomination.

Some fans who are not even fans of the show tuned in to see what Triumph the Insult Comic Dog would do.

However, there were other fans who hate everything about Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and love The Masked Singer.

Yet others took to Twitter to show surprise that Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was even still a thing.

The Masked Singer airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
