It’s officially A.L. (After Leap) time on Days of our Lives. In case you’ve been under a rock the past few weeks and just tuned in today, you’re forgiven if you think you have amnesia. No, soap opera amnesia is not contagious nor does it leak through the television. But yes, all of your favorite storylines were not as you remember them.
That’s because the show leapfrogged through an entire year over the weekend. Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) is now out of her coma, J.J. (Casey Moss) is a ratty tatty druggie (again), and the population of Salem has grown by at least two.
That’s because Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) are now moms. Wouldn’t you like to fast forward through pregnancy, too?
I have mixed feelings about the episode touted as epic. It was anticlimactic in many ways, the by-product of one too many teases, promos and spoilers. And yet, there was one saving grace, and it came at the very end in classic shocking soapy fashion–Will Horton (Chandler Massey) is in prison.
No, I’m not exalting over that fact, I’m just saying I never saw his incarceration coming. I want to know what St. Will did to land him in the big house.
Then again, there was plenty of payoff for things I did see or read coming around the bend.
Xander (Paul Telfer) in corporate mode and a daddy role was a delight, especially since he’s turned a corner with the help of Sarah and the baby they’re passing off as his.
I didn’t see Haley’s (Thia Megia) death coming, although that explains the reason J.J.’s chomping pills like Mentos. Instead of her lovely face, he was staring at her memorial.
And who in the h-e-double-l is Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) cooing to? That is pure heresy.
