Everyone is loving the return of Alaska: The Last Frontier as Jewel, the most famous of all the Kilchers, returned with her own son in a homecoming of sorts to open the new season.
But many fans are wondering, just how old is everyone in the Kilcher clan?
We asked Discovery for the hard data and they gave us the official ages and details for the Kilcher clan:
Otto Kilcher – (Age: 66)
Otto was Born in 1952, and he is the 6th child of Yule and Ruth Kilcher. He grew up in their modest log cabin, playing in nature and exploring his surroundings. He was a hard-working kid who did his chores as expected as well as tough farm work.
Now, he is the show’s go-to tinkerer and he is married to Charlotte, a native Californian who he has called his “hippie chick” in past interviews. Otto’s skills have been passed down to sons Levi, Eivin and August, and his step-son Torrey.
Charlotte Kilcher – (Age: 62)
Married over 20 years to Otto, Charlotte is originally from Northern California and was a vegetarian until she moved to Alaska. An academic, Charlotte studied as a wildlife biologist which is how she met Otto when she was working to help clean up the Exxon oil spill in Valdez.
The two met and fell in love and had sons Torrey and August, and with Otto’s sons from a previous marriage, Levi and Eivin, she counts them all as “her greatest joys.” Charlotte is handy in the garden and loves to do things with Jane Kilcher.
Atz Sr. Kilcher – (Age: 71)
Atz is the oldest child of Yule and Ruth, who escaped Hitler’s Eastern Europe occupation and moved to the Western wilderness. Atz Sr. is the oldest and he is the patriarch.
He helps Otto’s herd stay alive and out of danger and hunts bears and apex predators. Bonnie is Atz’s wife and they have four children. Shane moved back to the homestead with his family. Jewel is a worldwide singing star and the younger siblings Atz Lee and Nikos still live on the homestead today.
Bonnie Dupree Kilcher – (Age: 65)
A native New Yorker, Bonnie left home and wandered to Alaska, getting a job at the local cannery. Years later she met Atz Sr. and loved all of Atz’s music and stories about the Kilcher family. The two love music, skiing, and isolation as they raised four children together.
Atz Lee Kilcher – (Age: 42)
Atz Lee, Atz Sr’s son, left the homestead twenty odd years ago and roamed the country. He missed home and returned to his Alaskan life, and relies solely on hunting to supply his family with meat.
Atz Lee faces challenges yearly in his spartan food pantry and prefers to live off of the land and hunt and fish only.
Jane Kilcher – (Age: 44)
As we learned last week, Jane is a heck of a fisherman. Jane is a local, from Homer, Alaska, not far from the Kilcher Homestead. Jane used to be commercial fisherwoman so that’s where her mad burbot finding skills were honed. She met and fell in love with Atz Lee, and has been homesteading ever since. Jane is relied upon for finding fish and shellfish.
Eivin Kilcher – (Age: 35)
Eivin, Otto’s son, lives near his dad and is most like his father, a “jack-of-all-trades.” Eivin and Eve are a happy couple who homestead and live the life, as they expand their home and is described as a hunter/gatherer and a farmer too. In a recent episode, he helped his dad Otto make a hot tub, and it was a dangerous affair.
Eve Kilcher – (Age: 35)
Mom to two adorable kids – a boy and a girl – she is Eivin’s wife. Also a local, she was raised up near the Kilcher Homestead. Busy chasing toddlers, Eve is like Charlotte in that she adores gardening.
The family relies on her green thumb and gardening know how to reap the most veggies in their short growing season. Exactly four months is the time she has to grow and harvest enough vegetables for the rest of the year! A valuable skill in Alaska.
Shane Kilcher – (Age: 47)
Shane is the son of Lenedra Carroll and Atz Kilcher, and he has three siblings, all of whom have been featured in the show. He is married to Kelli Kilcher, whom he had met in high school.
They have three children, two daughters, and a son. Shane had a horrific fall while working on his cabin. and broke his back. He was absent from the second half of season seven but the word is he is greatly improved.
Kelli Kilcher – (Age: 44)
Kelli Ware Kilcher is a local too, from Anchorage, Alaska and from a native American family. She met and fell in love with Shane in high school. After three years they wed in 1992.
Shane and Kelli have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have four children, three sons and a daughter. Kelli Ware Kilcher also completed a nursing course at Maric College, California and works at the South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska.
Levi Kilcher – (Age: 37)
Levi is the academic in the family. He has a doctorate in physical oceanography and works for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a part of the National Wind Technology Center located in Boulder, Colorado.
His area of expertise is in Marine Hydrokinetics and Integrated Development. His task is to accumulate research and data for the development of tools for hydro-turbine designs.
Jewel Kilcher – ( Age: 44)
Arguably the most famous Kilcher, Jewel was raised in Homer and struck out as a teen after singing with her family. Today, Jewel is a worldwide famous musician, producer, actress, author, and a poet. She has four Grammy Award nominations and has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
Her son Kase visits her family in Alaska and like Levi, she appears infrequently on the series. Jewel formed a nonprofit organization called Higher Ground for Humanity with her mother, Lenedra J. Carroll and her older brother, Shane Kilcher.
She no longer appears to be involved with the organization. There was a dramatic rift between Jewel and her mother who she accused of allegedly stealing millions of dollars from her, revealed in a memoir. Jewel was married to Kase’s father Ty Murray, since divorced.
Nikos Kilcher (Age: 35)
A self-described “musician, water lover, firefighter. ..femenist [SIC],” Nikos was born on March 7, 1984 in Alaska.
He shares some musical talent along with his dad Atz and sister Jewel Kilcher. Nikos dropped an album titled ‘Nikos Kilcher Pilgrim’ and he married to Kate Kilcher in 2014. They live in Homer, Alaska.
