American Supergroup premieres tonight on Pop — with the aim of creating the biggest and best band in the US.
The show will feature 25 finalists who will be turned into five different groups each with a guitarist, vocalist, drummer, bass player and keyboard player.
Each group will be allowed to choose from one of various different genres with which to try and win the contest, including everything from Pop, to Metal, to R&B, Pop-Rock, Pop-Country, Traditional Country, Latin American and Alternative.
Over the course of seven weekly one-hour episodes plus a 90-minute finale audiences will help choose the ultimate winner by voting for the bands and the musicians via social media, as the groups compete against each other.
American Supergroup will be hosted by five judges — pop/soul star Aloe Blacc, rock/blues star Elle King, Country star Jennifer Nettles, classic rock star Jason Scheff and show host Dave Styles from iHeartMedia 104.3MYFM.
They will mentor the young musicians over the course of the competition.
The series is being filmed at Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
The first episode sees the auditions taking place for the show, as the judges have to choose who’ll make the cut.
American Supergroup will air at 8/7c on pop every Tuesday, with reruns the same time on MTV Live on Thursdays and at 7/6c on MTV Classic on Fridays.
