On Behind Bars: Rookie Year this week, rookie CO Aaron Purto reveals a plan by inmates to send him to his maker.
Aaron is just 5’4″ in height but makes up for it with his no-nonsense attitude which has led prisoners to dub him a “supercop”.
However, as the inmates admit: “Those are the guys that tend to get hurt.”
Aaron says: “From day one to where I am right now, I’ve absolutely found my identity as an officer.
“I’m very firm, very consistent…it’s a confident feeling for me to be able to come here and enforce these rules on these people.”
But his efforts to enforce the rules haven’t gone unnoticed by those inside. This episode Aaron joins the elite Security Threat Intelligence Unit (STIU) to talk with a member of a gang.
But it also emerges that the inmates had put in place a plan to take him out.
He says: “I was told that there was a hit on my life.”
Also on this week’s Behind Bars: Rookie Year, titled Mind Games, D’Angelo gets annoyed with himself because he can’t seem to catch inmates with contraband.
Meanwhile, Lilly makes a mistake in trusting a prisoner when a phone vanishes, and Chaz Miller joins and hopes to try and follow in the footsteps of his dad, who is a high-ranking lieutenant at the prison.
Behind Bars: Rookie Year airs Thursdays at 10/9c on A&E.
