USO – For the Troops on PBS documents how the United Service Organizations have helped boost troop morale since WWII.
Marking 75 years of the organisation’s work in providing support and help to those in the services, the program gives a behind-the-scenes look at the work the USO performs.
The organisation puts on music concerts, meet-and-greets with comedians and athletes and other events designed to boost the spirits of troops in the field.
But it goes beyond that and also provides family services, which help keep everyone connected and try to make communication with those stationed far away as easy as possible. There are also programs for kids and help for those caring for love ones injured during service.
Finally when service personnel are ready to leave, the USO offers help in the transition to civilian life, with the USO Transition 360 Alliance program helping hundreds of thousands every year.
Catch USO – For the Troops at 9pm on PBS.
