Chicago P.D. has a new problem on board and this time, it is political. Last night, viewers were introduced to Brian Kelton (John C. McGinley).

He is a police superintendent who is running for Mayor. Things aren’t what they seem and when a murder leads to political ties, lines are crossed.

The Kelton character was added for an arc and will be recurring on Chicago P.D. until the storyline wraps. With everything else Intelligence has going on, Brian Kelton is going to be much more than a thorn in their side.

What is Brian Kelton up to?

Running for office is the first thing on Brian Kelton’s mind. He is using a pro-police platform, hoping that will leave him untouchable in the dealings he is involved in. Not only is Kelton involved, but he has also roped in Deputy Superintendent Katherine Brennan (Ann Heche) into his shenanigans.

Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is on to Brian Kelton and with one of the Intelligence men down, solving the case is the biggest motive. Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) was shot while in pursuit of a suspect. He is going to recover, but Voight isn’t going to let this go down without a fight.

Who is John C. McGinley?

Viewers who tuned into Chicago P.D. last night may have recognized John C. McGinley. He appeared on Scrubs as Perry Cox for nearly a decade. On top of that, there are dozens of movie credits and television voice over credits on his resume.

Even though comedy is generally his thing, John C. McGinley is playing a very serious role on Chicago P.D. this season. The tension between him and Voight is going to come to a head at some point, and when it does, things will be incredibly dangerous for all people involved.

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.
