Chicago Fire viewers who stuck around last night to watch the preview for next week’s episode already know one of the big spoilers. In an episode designed to help develop characters, the preview might have stolen the show.
As Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) walked into the area where the vehicles sit at Firehouse 51, someone turned around and caught him off guard. It was Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund).
Dawson left the show when she decided to move to Peurto Rico to help with the rebuilding efforts. Before that, Dawson was married to Casey, leading to a dramatic exit from the show for actress Monica Raymund.
Now, as the One Chicago shows all head to their winter hiatus, it appears that the writers have something intriguing in store for the Chicago Fire cast. Since Casey is single again, despite his best efforts not to be, fans wonder if he is about to be reunited with Dawson.
Monica Raymund returns as Gabby Dawon for Best Friend Magic
On the surface, this seems like a way to grab some good ratings for the Chicago Fire fall finale. It’s the last new episode to air on NBC for a while, so it would make sense to bring back a fan-favorite character like Gabby Dawson.
It’s highly unlikely that she is there to start up a relationship again with Casey, but this could give viewers a bit more closure following the surprising end to their relationship.
It will also give Dawson a chance to see the memorial that was set up for Otis, who died in the Season 8 premiere.
Maybe we can also hold out hope that Gabby is going to share some information on Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), who left Chicago P.D. to go work with his sister in Puerto Rico. One can hope, right?
