The Chicago P.D. recap for Season 7, Episode 16, comes from the March 4 installment on NBC.
The episode focused a lot on the renewed partnership of Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).
At the beginning of the hour, Halstead was shown getting checked out by a doctor. He was still feeling pain from being shot earlier in Season 7, but he was cleared for duty.
When he left the hospital room, he was met by Hailey, who let him know that she had convinced Voight (Jason Beghe) to partner them up again.
It was good to see the pair working as partners again.
As they headed to the elevators, Halstead turned on his radio to hear that an armed robbery was taking place at a nearby check-cashing location.

Upon arriving at the scene, the duo found a robbery in progress and exchanged gunfire as a trio of criminals got away. In the crossfire, a bystander was hit, and a woman was shown trying to help him.

After everything took place, Halstead interviewed the woman, who said she had been trying to help. Later, though, when he tried to follow up with her, he learned that she had lied about her name and information.
With no real leads in the case, Halstead tracked down the woman using the plates of a car parked near the robbery location. Her name was Michelle (Haley Webb), and she was shocked to see him again and appeared to be hiding something.
When a sketchy guy named Shane Sullivan (Cillian O’Sullivan) came into the store where she was working, he was revealed as her husband and Intelligence later learned he had already been in prison for prior robberies.
Through more investigating, it was revealed that Shane had put his wife in the hospital by beating her up before. Hailey used that as leverage to get closer to Michelle, which ultimately got a foot in the door to figure out what had been going on.
Halstead and Upton solve the case
It turned out that an armored truck driver was leaving hints about hauling heavy loads to a trio of guys who had promised to give him a kickback of $2,000 each time he shared information.
The trio got their hooks into him because his mother was sick and he had mentioned it at a church that they attended.

The case didn’t exactly get closed cleanly, but Shane ended up behind bars, and his soon-to-be ex-wife found safety for herself and her daughter.
This was a great follow-up to the return of Sean Roman last week. Now, the show takes a week off before returning with an episode called “Before The Fall.”
For fans who haven’t heard yet, NBC announced the great news that Chicago P.D. has been renewed for three more years.
Chicago P.D. airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.
