Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire and Chicago Med have all been renewed for new seasons, NBC has confirmed.
The news Chicago P.D. was returning for Season 6 came after an action-packed season finale aired last night.
The show’s return was revealed on social media, with a message saying: “They’ll be back! #ChicagoPD is returning for Season 6.”
Similar official announcements were also made for Chicago Fire, which is returning for Season 7, and Chicago Med, which is returning for Season 4.
It was expected that the Dick Wolf series’ would be renewed due to their popularity. NBC will host their upfronts on May 14, when it’s likely more details will be announced.
The good news came after Chicago P.D.’s dramatic Season 5 finale.
The penultimate episode had seen Alvin Olinsky stabbed numerous times in his cell. He was locked up for killing the man who murdered Hank Voight’s son, but was supposed to be given bail.
When it was denied, he was taken back into custody, and after being stabbed was left fighting for his life.
