It’s chocolate coated nerves on The Great British Baking Show tonight as the contestants prepare to work with one of the trickiest ingredients.
There is tension in the tent and the bakers are going cocoloco as hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc “semi-hysterical and “semi-excited.”
To start these tense semi-finals they have just three hours to make a chocolate tart, then it is technical time with a chocolate soufflé in just over an hour.
Finally they have to create a mini-masterpiece in the form of a free-standing centerpiece, which must include white chocolate.
One contestant asks the hosts to “remind me to breath” whilst another says she is “feeling really nervous.”
The competition’s temperature begins to rise as the bakers wait on tenterhooks for the judges’ feedback.
At one point judge Paul Hollywood says: “I’m trying to decide whether I like it or not…” before finishing “no, I do like it.”
Tune in for some baking under pressure as the stakes rise and the standard expected gets higher.
The Great British Baking Show airs Fridays at 9pm on PBS.
