Grab the glitter and intoxicating substances (the legal kind) because Euphoria Season 3 is happening.
The show, which stars Zendaya as Rue, a drug-addicted teen surrounded by an ocean of problematic teenagers (and adults), has been a smash hit for HBO, inspiring controversy online for having heavy adult themes among teenage high schoolers, angering the D.A.R.E. organization, and doing massively record numbers in ratings. So, a Euphoria Season 3 renewal was inevitable.
Now it is official, with HBO issuing a press release stating their confidence in moving forward with Euphoria Season 3. This is impressive, considering the series is only four episodes into its second season.
What is in store for Euphoria Season 3? Here is what we can gather from HBO’s announcement.
Euphoria Season 3 announced
The press release from HBO comments on the huge audience Season 2 has established in its premiere and every episode after, citing that the Season 2 premiere “was the #1 most social premium cable episode since the ‘Game of Thrones’ finale in May 2019.”
Additionally, the announcement speaks on Euphoria Season 2’s viewership stating the season premiere was the highest watched episode in HBO Max’s history and has doubled its audience since season 1, going from six million viewers an episode to fourteen million comprehensively through streaming and television viewership.
The announcement also does a victory lap with the show’s critical praise, mentioning glowing responses from outlets such as Vulture, NPR, and Mashable.
It is not surprising that the wise executives at HBO would renew this wildly popular series for all these reasons.
Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, chimed in with her excitement, saying:
“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of EUPHORIA have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.“
The excitement will undoubtedly be shared by Euphoria fans as they finish the next four episodes. But what about the cast and Euphoria Season 3 release date?

Unfortunately, the press release does not indicate a timeline for the Euphoria Season 3 release drop. Season 1 premiered on June 16 of 2019. Since the pandemic hit in 2020, that date feels like three decades ago.
But hopefully, the cast and crew can make the third entry move faster than the wait for Season 2.
As far as casting, the HBO statement touches on the series regulars such as Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, and Sydney Sweeney. But it does not elaborate on if any of the familiar performers are returning for Season 3.
At the very least, it is easy to presume both Zendaya and Hunter Schaffer will come back. For now, only time will tell as we finish out season 2.
Until then, stay tuned for more updates about Euphoria Season 3 at Monsters & Critics.
