Fans have threatened to stop watching TLC’s hit wedding show Say Yes to the Dress over its current focus on new consultant Shay — describing him as “arrogant” and “a twit”.

Followers flooded the Say Yes to the Dress Facebook page with comments after a video clip featuring him was posted ahead of this week’s episode.

Shay was introduced at the start of Season 15 after becoming the first male consultant at Manhattan wedding dress firm Kleinfeld Bridal, on which the show is based.

But fans claim producers are focusing too much on Shay and what they say is his “know-it-all” attitude.

And they say the series is starting to be less Say Yes To The Dress and more Shay Yes To The Dress.

One comment said: “Shay is an arrogant twit who brings nothing of value to the show. He’s ruining it for me and I may have to walk away. I don’t watch to see the angst and pettiness he’s creating.”

Another added: “The whole tone of the show has changed and I don’t really want to watch it anymore. Shay is an arrogant, condescending and totally disrespectful human being. Where are all the other consultants?”

Some claimed producers were “adding tension” between him and fashion director Randy Fenoli — and said the drama between the pair seems forced.

Others suggested Shay should just be made less of a focus, as he was taking away from the thing they wanted to see the most — the brides and their dresses.

This week’s episode is called I Want My Daughter to Look Like a Sexpot and sees a timid bride’s appointment at Kleinfeld dominated by her outspoken mum.

Randy’s mom also visits the store for her 93rd birthday, and is more than happy to say what she thinks to customers.

Meanwhile, a bride also needs a gown suitable for two big secrets, she’s pregnant and eloping…

Say Yes to the Dress airs Saturdays at 8/7c on TLC.

I’m glad I found this article about Shay. I thought it was just me that didn’t like his manner. He is very arrogant and thinks he is the bees knees, when he is on I turn the tv off.

I love Shay he great but as usual anyone that is sure about who he is
Is called arrogant and whatever else they want to call him
Shay came in with yrs of experience or the owner of kleinfeld would not have hired him cause he told randy about Shays experience that’s why he hired him
But randy was so use to being the only male consultant don’t get me wrong I love love randy but I love Shay too but do they hate him cause he a confident gay black man
Shay is just a confident person so plz don’t label him if u don’t know him

Girl be for real! It didn’t have nothing to do with him being gay, black, or confident! You just loveee to throw that in. I’m as black as he is and even I was sick of him. That man was such an insufferable know it all and he didn’t know his place. He made everything about him and not about the bride. You’re being too dramatic. Settle down.
