Jay Leno’s Garage is back tonight with a brand new episode and this week’s feature is perfect for speed demons. Tonight’s feature will include Jay driving the fastest production car in the world.
The car is the 2018 Koenigsegg Agera RS. And of course, these bad boys aren’t cheap.
During the episode, it’s revealed that the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is about $2.9 million for one of these cars, but the current value is actually much higher – about three times as high. There are some for sale for as much as $10 million!
The neat thing about this car is that it is that exact car that Jay Leno is driving is that it beat the previous record for fastest car in the world.
The 2018 Koenigsegg Agera RS featured on tonight’s episode of Jay Leno’s Garage got up to 277.9 miles per hour, whereas the record to beat was 267.9 miles per hour. The record at the time was set in 2010 by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
The gentleman who is in the car with Jay during tonight’s episode appears to be the designer and creator of the 2018 Koenigsegg Agera RS. He explains that while he didn’t necessarily set out to create the fastest car, he did set out to build a great one.
But there is a catch for those who want to drive this car at its maximum speed. It’s a gas guzzler.
It only takes about 5 to 6 minutes for a full tank of gas to be burned if you are constantly driving at the car’s top speed. That sounds like an expensive fix for speed demons, looking to get an adrenaline rush.
Jay Leno’s Garage airs tonight at 10/9c on CNBC.
