Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) created For All Mankind, an alternate world story that asked what would have happened if the USSR beat the United States to the moon.
This led to a new arms race, where the U.S. and USSR battled for resources on the moon, intensifying the arms race using resources found on the moon, and making the Cold War scarier than ever.
With the second season ending in April, fans were ready for more, and they will not be disappointed.
Apple TV+ gave For All Mankind an early Season 3 renewal.

The good news is that Deadline reported Apple TV+ renewed For All Mankind for Season 3.

Filming of For All Mankind Season 3 started in February 2021, so there is not a release date yet, and this show has a lot of special effects to add before it is released.
For All Mankind Season 1 premiered in November 2019 and it was renewed before the premiere. Despite that, the coronavirus pandemic slowed production, and Season 2 never hit until February 2021.

For All Mankind Season 3 cast updates
The first season took place in the ’70s and the second season was in the ’80s with many of the same cast members as the astronauts.
However, with the third season seemingly jumping to the ’90s, it looks like there will need to be a new cast of younger astronauts replacing the older faces who won’t be going on these adventures.
The returning cast should include Joel Kinnaman as Ed Baldwin, Shantel VanSanten as Karen Baldwin, Jodi Balfour as Ellen Wilson, and Wrenn Schmidt as Margo Madison.
There is also a chance that the following could return, but they need to be aged due to the time jump: Coral Peña as Aleida Rosales, Casey W. Johnson as Danny Stevens, and Cynthy Wu as Kelly Baldwin.
Plus, Tracy and Gordo Stevens, played by Sarah Jones and Michael Dorman, died in the Season 2 finale, saving everyone and becoming the heroes viewers hoped they would become.
We will update this article if new cast members join For All Mankind Season 3.
For All Mankind Season 3 spoilers
For All Mankind is an alternate world story, exploring what would have happened if the global space race never ended.
The series shows an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers, and their families find themselves in the center of extraordinary events.
For All Mankind Season 2 started during the Cold War, a decade after Season 1 concluded.
Ronald Reagan is the U.S. President, and science and space exploration are being squandered as the Americans and Soviets fight to control sites rich in resources on the moon.
The militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories. Some fought it and others used it to gain what they wanted. Others feared a nuclear war.
As for the finale of For All Mankind Season 2, it set up the next step in the story by jumping ahead another decade.
At the end of Season 2, a massive crisis plays out on Earth, on the surface of the moon, and in several spacecraft orbiting both.
Russians invade the U.S. base on the moon, the U.S. is dealing with a Russian space blockade, a U.S. and a Russian spacecraft attempt a goodwill photo-op, and nuclear missile sirens ring out on Earth.
Meanwhile, Tracy and Gordo Stevens run across the moon’s surface, wrapped in duct tape, trying to avert a nuclear meltdown. And, then they shockingly died, making the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone in Jamestown.
The season then ended with a time jump of 10 years with someone walking on Mars’ surface. Ellen talked about leaving NASA for a private company to get to Mars.
It looks like she might have succeeded.
Apple TV+ has yet to announce when For All Mankind Season 3 will premiere.
