The month that the final season of Game of Thrones will air has just been announced by HBO. This is huge news for the network and fans of the show, who can expect to catch the Season 8 starting in April 2019.

Social media is buzzing with this breaking news as people try to work out both the Season 8 premiere date and when the finale might air.

As shown in the video below, HBO is also rolling out the promotional videos for the final season. This is huge, as the previous information from the network only stated that the show would return in “early 2019.”

Season 8 for Game of Thrones is coming!

A series of videos have been released on the YouTube page for the show. It’s all part of the promotion, with HBO and producers urging fans to catch up on the show before the next set of episodes hit television.

The first seven seasons are all streaming online, with several OnDemand functions providing the episodes on television. There will be a lot of ways to re-watch the first seven seasons of episodes before Season 8 debuts.

Season 8 GoT release date marks beginning of the end

The Season 8 Game of Thrones release date marks the beginning of the final six episodes shown on HBO. This is a short-run season, but the episodes are going to be a bit longer than in the past. The longer run-times will allow the writers to pack more story into each night.

After that, it’s only a matter of time until the prequel debuts on the network. Naomi Watts has already been cast as a lead character on that new series, which will take place on a timeline before what happens in Season 1 of Game of Thrones. That will have to wait, though, as more news on the prequel will be shelved until fans have all read about the Season 8 Game of Thrones release date.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO with Season 8 in April 2019.
