The Game of Thrones giant ice spiders certainly sound like a nightmare for many people. But it may just be the next obstacle that people have to overcome in the George R.R. Martin fantasy.
The giant ice spiders were referenced in Season 1 of Game of Thrones when it aired on HBO. It was only a brief moment, as Bran Stark was being read a story as he tried to recover from his injuries at the hands of Cersei and Jaime Lannister.
Author George R.R. Martin shared the image below on his Twitter account, which will appear in a 2020 calendar. They certainly look as terrifying as anything else the characters in his books have had to face.

Game of Thrones Season 8 air date?
While it hasn’t been rumored that these giant ice spiders will ever appear on the current show, it has helped spur even more interest in the upcoming episodes.
A teaser trailer for Season 8 was recently revealed by HBO. Viewers hoping to find out the Game of Thrones Season 8 air date weren’t rewarded. While the trailer reaffirmed that the show is returning in April 2019, it still didn’t give an exact date of the season premiere.

It would certainly be exciting if George R.R. Martin’s giant ice spiders found a way to appear in Game of Thrones Season 8. If not, there is a prequel show in the works, where beasts like these could be used to draw in viewers. The show even has its first cast member.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO in April 2019.
