Go Cubes chewable coffee blocks are one of the most eye-catching products to appear on Shark Tank this season.
The producers are certain there’s a huge market, asking the sharks for $2million in investment on this week’s episode.
But what’s all the fuss about? And where can you buy them?
Go Cubes, produced by Nootrobox, are basically coffee in your pocket and are produced as a chewable cube.
They are marketed as combining “the kick of coffee with the relaxation of green tea”, after using science to eliminate the jitteriness that drinking coffee can sometimes give you.
They are also vegan and gluten-free, and include smart drugs — or nootropics — to boost mental clarity and focus.
Each cube is equivalent to half a cup of coffee, and they come in packs of four; so basically a pack contains the equivalent of two cups of coffee.
Each serving of two cubes is said to have effects that last for 4-6 hours.
The cubes come in three different flavors: Latte, Pure Drip and Mocha. Each pack contains three different flavors, with an extra serving of one of them.
Are Go Cubes cheaper than real coffee?
The simple answer is yes, if you buy your coffee out and about — although probably not if you make your coffee at home.
Go Cubes are sold as either a sampler of 6 x 4-packs or a box of 20 x 4-packs.
If you buy a sampler of six packs of four cubes, that will cost you $13.50 — so $2.25 per pack of four, or 56c per cube. Two of those means the price is equivalent to $1.12 per cup. (With Nootrobox’s $3.95 shipping that’s $1.45 per cup)
If you buy a box of 20 packs, they are priced at $35.10, thus reducing the cost of each pack of four to $1.75, or 43c per cube. Two of those means the price is equivalent to 88c per cup. (With Nootrobox’s $8.95 shipping that’s $1.10 per cup)
