Jelly Bean was Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s three-legged Pomeranian mix — and a beloved companion of hers. She got the dog years ago and the pair have been inseparable.
Back in February, Alana said on Mama June: From Not to Hot that Jelly Bean was all she had. At that point, Pumpkin was pregnant and had moved her boyfriend in. Mama June started dating someone and Alana was left feeling like the fifth wheel with everyone else in a relationship.
“I got Jelly Bean, but it’s the only person I got,” Alana told her dad Sugar Bear and his new wife Jennifer.
On the latest episode of Mama June: From Not to Hot, Alana said goodbye to her best friend and faithful pet. The funeral for the family pet was not surprisingly jelly bean-themed, with attendees receiving bags of the candy as they said their goodbyes.
As far as how Jelly Bean died, it’s not entirely clear. What we do know is that Honey Boo Boo’s dog was adopted back in 2014 when the original TLC hit was still airing. Alana got her dog, who was already an adult, right around the time that Kaitlyn turned two years old.
In pictures of Alana and Jelly Bean from 2015, the fluffy pup already looked to be showing signs of age. While Mama June and her daughter didn’t really disclose what happened to the family pet, it’s safe to say that she probably died of old age. After all, the average lifespan for a Pomeranian is about 12-16 years.
RIP Jelly Bean! Alana sure is going to miss you.
Mama June: From Not to Hot airs on Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on WEtv.
