Jazz Jennings’s transgender friend Noelle has told how waiting until after male puberty made her transition much more difficult.
She explained on I Am Jazz how it led to deep depression and how people used to make fun of her at school, mocking her and taking photos.
Speaking to Jazz she says: “I looked like man in a dress.”
She laments not transitioning before male puberty saying “that’s fourteen years I’ll never get to be a girl”.
Unlike Jazz, Noelle made her transition at 14 and says the process of puberty did irreversible damage to her body.
The series follows the life of 14-year-old transgender female Jazz. For years she and her parents have fought medical prejudice and for acceptance. Now she is heading to high school and faces the next big challenge in her life.
I Am Jazz airs on Wednesdays 10/9c on TLC.
