On last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy announced that Idris Elba had been named People’s magazine’s sexiest man alive. While Elba couldn’t be in the studio with Fallon, they talked via a live interview and Elba got the magazine cover to look at.
It was clear that Idris Elba’s new title is something that makes him very proud and happy. During the talk, Fallon asked him to pose and do a few expressions.
When he was handed the magazine cover, Elba looked oddly on the cover as if he was dissatisfied with the picture they had chosen. However, he was just joking around, and he told Jimmy he was thrilled with the cover.
Idris Elba was born Idrissa Akuna Elba and he’s is an actor. He’s best known for his Beasts of No Nation, Thor: Ragnarok where he plays Heimdall, Star Trek: Beyond, and Pacific Rim.
He can also be seen in Turn Up Charlie, Luther, In The Long Rung, Avengers: Infinity War and more. He has over 89 current acting credits and one can imagine his list will only grow after this title.
Elba was born and raised in London, England. His father is originally from Sierra Leone and his mother is from Ghana.
Idris first started having an interest in acting when he attended school in Canning Town and he got a spot at the National Youth Music Theatre. Idris would work odd jobs to pay the bills in between acting gigs, including working as a DJ.
Even though he’s famous in the United States, he’s also been honored in the United Kingdom. Idris Elba was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II back in 2016. He currently lives in New York City and Los Angeles, California.
He’s engaged to his girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre, as he proposed in February after a year of dating. He’s been married twice before. Idris was first married to Henne Kim Norgaard from 1999 to 2003 and they have one child together. He was briefly married to Sonya Hamlin but their marriage was annulled after 4 months in 2006.
