History is set to air a new ten-episode series titled In Search Of, hosted by Zachary Quinto and examining unexplained phenomena across the globe.
The show is inspired by the syndicated series of the same name which aired from 1977 to 1982 and was presented by Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, and will examine everything from the mythical to the scientific.
Each episode will feature a different subject from things like artificial intelligence to alien encounters and mysterious creatures.
Quinto is famous for his role as Spock in the Star Trek movie reboot in 2009 as well as in its sequels Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. He is also well known for playing Sylar in Heroes
Quinto, who will also serve as executive producer on the show, said: “I am so excited to be reimagining ‘In Search Of’ and exploring new questions and phenomena with all of the advancements in science and technology from which we have benefitted in the past forty years since the original series first aired.
“In the spirit of my late dear friend Leonard Nimoy, we intend to honor and perpetuate his endless curiosity about the world – and universe – in which we live.”
History’s executive vice president of programming Eli Lehrer said: “In the ‘70s and ‘80s, the legendary Leonard Nimoy captivated viewers by transporting them through the world of unsolved mysteries and paranormal phenomena.
“To this day, the investigations conducted in this series remain relevant and a source of public obsession. Now with Zachary’s passion and prevalence in the science fiction genre, the groundbreaking series is back for a new audience.”
In Search Of is produced by Propagate Content, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Before the Door Pictures with FremantleMedia International distributing the series around the world.
