Kristinia DeBarge met her cousin Kyndall Ferguson DeBarge for the very first time on Growing Up Hip Hop. As viewers know, Kristinia is the daughter of James DeBarge. Kyndall’s father is his brother El, and now the daughters of the famous DeBarge brothers are getting a chance to know each other.
When Kyndall met Kristinia on the WEtv series, it proved that the DeBarge family drama is still going strong. Kyndall explained that growing up, she knew that El DeBarge was her father but that her mother Tracey Ferguson never wanted to mention that last name in their home.
Kyndall grew up not knowing her father or other members of the famous family until she was an adult. She explained to Kristinia that the first time she met her father, it was because he was in town for a show.
Curious about the other side of her family, Kyndall admitted that she showed up to a meet and greet, then introduced herself as El DeBarge’s daughter. Ever since, Kyndall says that she and her father have been working to build a good relationship with each other.
Of course, that didn’t come without a few hiccups. Kyndall’s mother wasn’t too fond of her family reunion. She explained on the show that her mother didn’t want her involved with El DeBarge because of the family history.
Kyndall explained that she was upset about being kept away from her father and his side of the family. When they finally did meet, she didn’t know how to act.
It turns out that Growing Up Hip Hop wasn’t Kyndall’s television debut. She’s an actress and is working on her own rise to fame.
