Last Man Standing was picked up by FOX for a seventh season after being canceled by ABC. After heavy fan uproar, the show found a new home and will return this fall but unfortunately, not all of the cast members will be coming.
During the waiting period between the cancellation and the news of the pickup, several of the actors read for other projects. Right now, there are still things being ironed out as far as the cast goes.
Of course, Tim Allen will be back in the lead role as the patriarch of the Baxter family. Along with his return, Amanda Fuller, Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, Hector Elizondo, and Jordan Masterson are all a go moving forward.
One of the Baxter daughters, Kaitlyn Denver is working on a recurring contract for Last Man Standing because she was already signed on with a show for Netflix. Fans are hoping this one will work out, especially given the other news about casting.
As reported earlier, Molly Ephraim is not planning to return to Last Man Standing at all. The role of Mandy Baxter is going to be recast, something that has viewers a little skeptical. After playing the part for six seasons, seeing another person in the family dynamic may not go over well.
Flynn Morrison has also opted out of a return to Last Man Standing. With his role as Boyd, the transition should be easier. Recasting a child is much easier than recasting an adult role that had previously been established.
Right now, there is no word on who will fill the vacant roles on Last Man Standing. FOX is hoping the ABC viewers will follow their show, and if that happens, the ratings will likely soar.
Last Man Standing returns on September 27 on FOX.
