Married at First Sight exclusive: Watch moment Jephte’s mom interrupts his wedding to Shawniece

Jephte Pierre’s mom hasn’t been keen on him marrying a total stranger since the get-go – and on Married at First Sight this week she interrupts the wedding ceremony to make her feelings known!

Watch our exclusive sneak peek from this week’s episode as Jephte and his bride Shawniece Jackson see each other for the first time.

Both are left smiling after setting eyes on each other, with Shawniece saying of Jephte: “He has a baby face, but he’s handsome — and he’s fine!”

But proceedings are brought to a sudden halt when Jephte’s mom Laura — as was shown at the end of last week’s season premiere — stands up in front of all the guests and says: “Everybody, wait…this is my son!”

The guests are left stunned, as Jephte says: “This is exactly what I was afraid of.”

The moment comes after Laura last week reacted badly when Jephte revealed he was set to wed a stranger, telling him getting married was not a “game”. She added: “You need a lot of prayer!”

Our exclusive clip also reveals tense moments leading up to the ceremony as Laura shouts across the aisle at Shawniece’s mom: “She better treat my son right.” Shawniece’s mom replies: “They better treat each other right!”

From the clip below it looks like the wedding does go ahead despite Laura’s interruption, although how long it will last remains to be seen. Jephte revealed last week that he didn’t know how it could work if he didn’t have his mother’s support.

And things get off to a bumpy ride as Shawniece — who repeatedly broke down in emotional tears on last week’s episode — gives Jephte a lap dance at their wedding reception, right in front of Laura!

Married at First Sight airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Lifetime.
