The old saying “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Not sure how that is going to sit as the remaining “royals” of the Westeros are seen in the latest Game of Thrones clip from HBO.
The new trailer for Season 7 teases fans mercilessly for the premiere on July 16.
Set to a song titled “Sit Down” by the artist James, we see three POVs, from Daenerys Targaryen walking a hall, perhaps the iron Islands keep? Meanwhile Queen Cersei Lannister stridently marches to her Iron Throne in King’s Landing. Jon Snow is also walking the halls of what look to be Winterfell.
But the first huge clue is that it is cold, everywhere, even in King’s Landing where it’s always balmy.
The trailer ends by pulling back after Cersei exhales visible breath because of the chill. Then we are suddenly face to face with the Night King’s insanely blue eye.
We know the threat to all is the White Walkers, and their zombie horses the Wights, who amass in staggering numbers.
We all know the TV saga is wrapping and the seasons have all led us to this epic showdown.
Will eternal Winter best the human life of the Westeros? HBO also included a tag alongside the video that reads, “Fear is for the winter”.
Emilia Clarke, cast as the fiery queen with three badass dragons Daenerys Targaryen, has Instagrammed that filming wrapped and the new season coming this summer is a “mind-blower”.
In past interviews of late, Maisie Williams [Arya Stark] — who was cast on GOT when she was just 12-years-old — has said the season coming is “so exciting,” and noted the finale was gobsmacking.
Maisie spilled the details on a British talk show called This Morning, as she said: “This year it really kind of heats up. Everyone gets their trials and everyone gets their tribulations, which is excellent.
“Particularly for Arya, there are some really high points. There are some really low points, too…and that’s what I can tell you about Game of Thrones!”
