Below Deck Mediterranean alum Katie Flood has opened up about a past relationship with a crew member that turned toxic.
The former crew member was someone Katie encountered before she joined Below Deck Med. Katie admitted she was young and broken at the time, getting real about a very difficult time in her life.
As Below Deck fans know, Katie dated Below Deck Mediterranean alum Jack Stirrup years before either of them appeared on the hit yachting show. Katie is the face tattooed on Jack’s arm.
No, Jack isn’t the man Katie refers to when speaking about her toxic relationship, but their breakup did impact her mindset at the time.

This week Katie stopped by the Total Ship Show podcast to speak with her good friend Malia White. The two, of course, met on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 and remain close friends, today.
Katie got real about her past relationship, revealing she joined a new yacht the same day her relationship with Jack ended. The chief stew admitted she was “dying inside” over the relationship ending.
While enduring the breakup blues, Katie met a good-looking crew member. The unnamed man became her confidante, and they eventually started dating.
Unfortunately, the relationship turned south quickly when the man became “really really toxic.” Katie revealed she would receive awful messages from him calling her horrible names.
“He was a very jealous person, and for so long, I didn’t understand what happened. He would call me, like, a toxic slut. Like, ‘You’re a b****.’ Like, all these terrible words all the time, and we’d go out on nights out and would be at the bar having a drink, and he’d like yell at me like, ‘Why are you looking at that guy?’ And I’m like, ‘Who? I’m sitting with the girls talking gossip,'” Katie recalled.
The man lost control one time, getting angry at Katie, and it resulted in him punching the laundry door as she watched. Katie was never so scared in her life.
Katie did not tell anyone about the relationship
Because she was so new to the yacht, Katie did want to cause any problems. Then one stew saw the awful messages the man sent to Katie and encouraged her to speak to the captain.
Katie still didn’t tell the captain. The brunette beauty felt so defeated sat the time she didn’t know what to do.
“I was so broken at the time. I didn’t know where to run, and I couldn’t get away from this person because we’re stuck on this boat. Well, that’s the scary part is I could not get away from him,” she expressed.
Thankfully the captain did find out, and the man was kicked off the yacht. The abuse continues to impact Katie and her personal relationships.
Katie Flood has been working hard to put the past behind her. She recently revealed how Below Deck Med changed her life, including the bonds she created on the show.
These days Katie keeps her love life private. Theirs is speculation she has a new man in her life, but Katie has kept quiet on the subject. One thing she is not shy about is that Katie does not date yachties anymore.
