On a recent episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Jenna MacGillivray revealed her infertility issues and opened up to fans regarding how it changed her life.
When a family with a one-month-old baby chartered the Parsifal III yacht, it brought up the subject of children between chef Adam Glick and the chief stew.
It was during their chat that Jenna revealed she is infertile.
Jenna opens up to fans
After her chat with Adam, Jenna opened up to fans about being infertile during her confessional.
“When I was 17, my appendix burst, and the doctor told me if I ever have trouble conceiving, that it was because I was infertile. I actually feel like I would be such a good mom. I love kids so much.
“But I also have so much satisfaction in my life from other aspects that I just don’t see my life going in that direction. Because I accepted it when I was 17, it’s the way it is,” Jenna explained.
There was an outpouring of love for Jenna once fans learned her infertility story. She used Instagram Stories to share a video thanking viewers for their positive words.
Jenna also let her followers know she took a negative and turned into a positive.
“I always imagined myself getting married and having kids, just having this normal life. And when it didn’t go that way, what was I going to do? I actually turned it all around and got super positive about my situation,” she said.
Major life change
Learning she was infertile caused Jenna to make a significant life change.
Yes, there are other ways she could have become a mom. However, Jenna decided to take her life in a completely different direction than she initially imagined.
Jenna chose to return to yachting after learning having a child was not in the cards for her.
“And I’ve really been the happiest I’ve ever been in the past. I don’t know, ten years. Just accepting my circumstances and growing with it,” she said in her Instagram Story.
The chief stew loves her life in the yachting industry, and now being on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Jenna has learned the importance of making positive life changes thanks to her infertility.
“But basically whatever life gives you, make lemonade,” she said, laughing before adding. “Cheesy, I know.”
