Below Deck’s Tanner Sterback is recovering after a recent accident landed him in the ICU for days. The deckhand is very lucky to be alive.
Tanner updated his followers on his condition, as well as the incident once he was safe and sound at home.
The yachtie included a photo of him, with several wounds over his arms, face, and hands.
Tanner’s accident
On Thursday, Tanner took to Instagram to explain why he had been MIA for several days. He woke up to find himself in the ICU after a freak accident.
“Sorry I haven’t gotten back to everyone who has reached out to me about my recent accident,” Tanner began. “To let everyone know, I was riding my electric skateboard home when a car had come too close for comfort!”
Tanner went on to explain the events that followed, including suddenly waking up in the hospital.
“Waking up in the ICU was intimidating. I suffered a fractured skull, and a few abrasions,” he said.
“The sublime doctors at the Broward trauma center have called me very lucky, and after a week in the hospital, I am grateful to be home with my family surrounded by love and gratitude.”
The yachtie knows he is lucky to be alive, but the road to recovery is not going to easy.
“Long road of recovery ahead, but I am so grateful, and I plan on continuing to shine a positive outlook, share positivity and love. Hope everyone is safe and doing well. Much love!”
Along with sharing his accident news, Tanner reminded all of his followers to wear a helmet when skateboarding.
Life since Below Deck
Since filming Below Deck, over one year ago, life has changed quite a bit for Tanner.
Before the show, he was working on a yacht in Florida. After filming the Bravo series, he returned home to Long Island, where he is working as a dockmaster.
Tanner spent a lot of time on the Bravo show flirting with the ladies.
He had several hook-ups with second stew Simone Mashile and attempted to get freaky with chief stew Kate Chastain. Yes, Tanner was all about having fun with multiple women during his time on the Valor.
Times have changed for Tanner.
There is only one woman who has his attention now, Corinna Pico. The couple has been dating for months. Tanner even introduced her to the rest of the Below Deck crew, who all approve of Corinna.
