The Big Brother prize money appears to have been increased for the new season of the show. A new promo was posted on social media, detailing how the BB23 cast is going to be competing for a lot of money.

During a typical season of the show, the Big Brother winner would leave the game with a $500,000 cash prize. That’s what happened for BB22 winner Cody Calafiore, who recently revealed what he spent his money on.

According to the new promo, someone from the BB23 cast could be leaving with a lot more than that. Taking into account that $1 million was already on the line during Big Brother 6, it raises additional questions about just how much is being offered this summer.

For that 2005 season of Big Brother, if both members of a secret pair reached the final two, the winner (according to the jury) would receive a prize of $1 million and the runner-up would receive $250,000. No duo made it to the end, though.

“Big risks, big rewards, and the biggest cash prize in Big Brother history! Here’s an exclusive look at tonight’s #BB23 premiere. Make sure to watch starting at 8/7c on @cbs!” reads the caption for a new video on social media.

How much money are Big Brother producers offering?

The video runs for about a minute, and it may very well be the introduction that CBS viewers will see at the beginning of the Big Brother 23 season premiere. Viewers get a new look at the house as the narrator talks up the new season.

“It’s a new era of big risks, big rewards, and the biggest cash prize in BB history,” the narrator exclaims toward the end of the video.

Details are still scarce on the exact amount of prize money, but Julie Chen Moonves was already hinting at a double or nothing offer. Could this be where it comes into play for the BB23 cast?

Already, fans are buzzing online about what that means, with many quick to point out that there was already a $1 million prize on the line for duos that made it to the end of Big Brother 6.

Does that mean they are matching the $1 million this season? That would make the most sense, as it would pull Big Brother in line with the cash prizes already offered on Survivor and The Amazing Race.

It’s also possible that the BB23 cast could end up playing in duos, as that is something CBS hinted at in a previous advertisement.

Update: During the Big Brother season premiere (here is the recap), Julie announced that the cash prize is $750,000 this season.
