Bohana stars on Shark Tank: What’s special about these popped water lily seeds snacks?
The March 20 episode of Shark Tank gave the sharks something to munch on with the introduction of Bohana.
Shark Tank stars Lori Greiner, Rohan Oza, Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, and Kevin O’Leary looked intrigued at the concept of the popcorn alternative from Bohana. The company, which is located in Boston, Mass., focuses on producing super seeds that are also known as Makhana.
The whole air, popped water lily seeds are a grain-free, gluten-free snack that have 50 percent more protein than popcorn while offering fewer calories and fat and no kernels to get stuck in your teeth.
Bohana products are non-GMO and Kosher. With the exception of the cheddar flavor, the seeds also are vegan and Paleo-friendly.
Bohana is seeking to promote the snack as an Ayurvedic superfood, with an alkaline character making them suitable for every body type. Made in the United States, the products also are part of the company’s “Free Spirit Snacking mission,” which the entrepreneurs define as “the act of listening to your body and feeding your soul.”
Where can you buy Bohana’s popped water lily seeds, and what flavors are available?
The company offers a store locator that shows where you can purchase the popped water lily seeds. Bohana also has an online shopping option.
The flavors include Wild White Cheddar, at 90 calories per bag; Soulful Sriracha Spice, at 120 calories per serving and two servings per bag, and Pink Himalayan Salt, at 110 calories per serving and two servings per bag.
Free shipping is available for the products, with prices including a 6-pack of 2-ounce Pink Himalayan Salt Bohana for $24.99. You can also purchase a variety pack of all three flavors, which includes six 2-ounce bags at $24.99.
Spoiler alert: Which Shark star did Bohana choose on Shark Tank?
Bohana co-founder Nadine Habayeb introduced the Sharks to her company’s products. Among those making offers were Barbara, who said that she felt the product made her fuller than popcorn, and Kevin (also known as “Mr. Wonderful.”)
One by one, the other Sharks including Mark, Lori, and Rohan said that they were out of the battle to team up with Bohana.
That left Corcoran and O’Leary, who bickered back and forth about the benefits that each was offering, leaving Nadine struggling to decide. Ultimately, Habayeb chooses Kevin, who beamed triumphantly as Barbara looked gloomily on.
