During tonight’s episode of The Bachelor, Caelynn Miller-Keyes will open up to Colton Underwood about a scary incident that happened to her while she attended the Virginia Commonwealth University.
Reality Steve reveals that Caelynn goes on a one-on-one date with Colton and tells him everything she’s been through. It has been described as one of the most emotional conversations on the show.
The incident was a sexual assault, and this isn’t the first time she has talked about it. When she competed to become Miss USA as Miss North Carolina, she opened up about her experience and how she wanted to improve policies at college campuses around the country.
Miller-Keyes was a student at the Virginia Commonwealth University where she studied Broadcast Journalism. She revealed that it happened when she was a sophomore and that the incident happened at a fraternity house.
It was someone who Caelynn called a friend who she alleges had sexually assaulted her. When she called two friends to tell them about the incident, friends who had also been at the same fraternity house at the time, she learned that they also believed they had been assaulted.
None of the women had any recollection as to what had happened. Caelynn believes that they had all been drugged and assaulted.
Miller-Keyes shared that no doctor would test her for drugs until she filed a police report, something she wasn’t doing to do. Now that she’s speaking out, she’s hoping to educate people on what to do after being a victim of sexual assault.
As she explains herself, she didn’t know what her rights were and she wants to change that. Caelynn wishes she knew how to handle the situation at the time, and she’s pushing for improvement in how rape kits and sexual assault examinations are done, including the processing time.
Tune in tonight for The Bachelor to learn more about Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ experience.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
