Former Dancing with the Stars co-host blasts Tyra Banks’ hosting performance

Tyra Banks has hosted Dancing with the Stars for the last two seasons.

While the show dropped in the ratings and was moved to Disney+ for the next two seasons, many fans blame Tyra’s hosting.

The two biggest complaints about Tyra were that she stole attention from the dancers with her elaborate costumes and talked over the judges, almost making the show about her rather than the dancing.

One DWTS co-host is not keeping quiet about it.

Brooke Burke blasts Tyra Banks’ DWTS hosting

Brooke Burke was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in Season 7.

She won the Season 7 competition with Derek Hough as her partner. They beat Warren Sapp and Lance Bass, who were also finalists.

Three seasons later, Brooke stepped into the role of co-host alongside Tom Bergeron. Brooke was the co-host from Season 10 to 17 before Erin Andrews took over for her.

However, when Tyra Banks took over for Erin and Tom, it fell flat for many fans, including Brooke Burke.

Brooke was on David Yontef’s “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast and talked about Tyra Banks.

Brooke said the problem is that Tyra is a diva, and she said that everybody knows it. She also said there is nothing wrong with that, just not on Dancing with the Stars.

“I’m not saying anything bad about her — be a diva!” Burke said. “It’s not the place to be a diva.”

Brooke also said she understands how hard it can be to transition into the Dancing with the Stars host, especially replacing Tom Bergeron after 28 seasons.

“Change is hard for everyone. They’ve gone through a lot on that show, that’s for sure,” Brooke said.

However, she also said Tyra is “not the star” as the host.

“Like, it is just not about you as the host, right?” Brooke said. “So, yeah, I think Tyra is great in a shining role. I will just say that.”

Tyra Banks struggled through two seasons on DWTS

One of the things that rubbed Dancing with the Stars fans the wrong way was that Tyra Banks seemed to act like the show was about her.

In the second week of the season, Tyra Banks wore a dress on the show that looked like a dinosaur from Jurassic Park.

When fans complained, Tyra made a comment that made it worse.

“Different is what? Better,” Banks said. “I don’t have time to be normal in a pretty dress, because nobody is going to say anything about a pretty dress. You’ve got to push it and go for it.”

However, the fans felt that people should be talking about the dancers and not the host.

Now, with the season over and Dancing with the Stars moving to Disney+, there are rumors the series might be replacing Tyra Banks.

Dancing with the Stars is on hiatus. The dancing reality series will return to Disney+ in late 2022.
