Bravo has dropped the trailer for the new season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and we finally got a glimpse of the new addition, actress Garcelle Beauvais.
Season 10 hasn’t even premiered yet, and Garcelle is already making history – being the first African-American on the Beverly Hills cast.
The stunning 53-year-old will add some much-needed diversity and may very well bring a new audience to the show.
Garcelle is popularly known for her role as Francesca ‘Fancy’ Munro on The Jaime Foxx Show, which lasted from 1996 to 2001.
However, the Haitian-born actress actually moved to the United States with her mom and six older siblings after her parent’s divorce.
They lived in Massachusetts then later settled in Miami, where her mom worked as a nurse.
Garcelle started her career as a fashion model
She was signed to Irene-Marie Models and Ford Models in Miami. However, Garcelle moved to New York at the age of 17 to pursue modeling on a larger scale.
She found success, strutting the runways for Isaac Mizrahi and Calvin Klein. The young model graced the cover of Jet magazine, also appearing in popular publications such as Essence and Ebony.
She also starred in several music videos, one being the leading lady in Luther Vandross’ Take You Out.
Beauvais also has a host of acting credits to her name.
After her run as “Fancy,” she tackled the role of Valerie Heywood, an assistant district attorney on NYPD Blue from 2001 to 2004.
She also appeared in the TNT drama, Franklin and Bash, before reconnecting with her former co-star Jamie Foxx in the 2013 movie, White House Down.
The actress has also appeared in other popular shows such as Psyche, The Mentalist, CSI Miami, and Chicago Med.
She is also set to reprise her role in the upcoming installment of the classic 1988 movie, Coming To America, which is scheduled for a December 2020 release.
Garcelle has had an interesting personal life as well
She has a 29-year-old son, Oliver, from her first marriage to producer Danielle Saunders. After their divorce, she met and married talent agent Mike Nilon in 2001.
The couple welcomed their twin sons, Jade and Max, in 2007. A few years later, Garcelle publicly accused her husband of infidelity.
In an interview, she reveals how she found out about Mike’s affair.
“I forgot my phone at home. I said, ‘Hey, can I use your phone to call your mom?’ So, I went to go make the call, and I saw, ‘I love you’ I looked again, and I said, ‘What’s this?’ That’s pretty much how everything changed.” She says.
“The shock was like a freight train hitting me. The pain was unimaginable. I couldn’t breathe. I wanted to exit my body like a character in a cartoon. I had so many questions. What happens next?”
What Garcelle did next was one for the books, She sent an email to everyone at her husband’s office.
The subject line listed two famous cheating husbands with her own husband’s name added, “Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon,”
It Reads “What do they have in common . . . I found out today that MY husband of almost 9 yrs has been having an affair for 5 yrs with some slut in Chicago. I am devastated!!!! And I have been duped!! Our boys don’t deserve this!”
The dramatic email went viral, and a devastated Garcelle later filed for divorce.
With her no-nonsense personality and dramatic personal life, we have no doubt that Garcelle will be a perfect fit for RHOBH. We can’t wait to see the interaction between her and the other vivacious women on the cast.
This season is gearing up to be an epic one, I can feel it!
Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will air on April 15 on Bravo.
